MotoGP is a new category of motorcycle races, the biggest in terms of performance. Inaugurated in 2002, it replaced the 500cc category with 4-stroke engines. The other categories are Moto 2 and 125cc.
The MotoGP championship, managed by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), is the most prestigious one, in which the world’s best motorcyclers participate. The races take place at weekends, from Friday to Sunday. On the first day are organized the free tests, on the second day, the official tests, and on the third, the real race.
The championship is divided into two categories: pilots and manufacturers. Points are awarded depending on the final classification and start from the first fifteenth place. The minimum age to participate in races has been set to 18.
